Valeriia

Valeriia grows from Latin soil. The name goes back to the Roman family name Valerius, built on the verb valere, to be strong and to be healthy. So the short meaning, strong and healthy, sits inside the root itself, rather than being attached to the name later.

The spelling with the doubled i is a Ukrainian one, and Valeriia is a common given name across Ukraine today. Bring the same name into Polish and it settles as Waleria, the variant a Polish register would recognise. Among friends it softens to Wala. The masculine line runs alongside it as Walery, so a family can carry both. That Roman root holds all of them together.
