Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2025
We take your privacy seriously, but we also believe privacy policies shouldn't require a law degree to understand. Here's how we handle your data at poland.gg — plainly and honestly.
Who We Are
Poland.gg is run by Matt Rybin, trading as MATT RYBIN MATTRYBIN (NIP: 6793260169, REGON: 524468418), based in Kraków, Poland.
For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

What Data We Collect
It depends on how you use poland.gg:
Account and Subscription Data — When you create an account or purchase a subscription, we collect your name, email address, and payment-related information. All payment processing is handled by Stripe — we never see or store your credit card details.
Usage Data — When you browse the site, we automatically collect technical information like your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URLs. This helps us understand how people use the platform so we can make it better.
Cookie Data — We use cookies for analytics purposes. More on that in the Cookies section below.
Communication Data — If you reach out to us by email or through the site, we keep your message and contact details so we can actually get back to you.
Why We Collect Your Data
Under the GDPR, we need a legal basis for processing your data. Here's what applies and why:
Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) — Processing your account, managing your subscription, and giving you access to paid features. If you're paying us, we need to know who you are.
Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — Analyzing how the site is used so we can improve it, keeping things secure, and communicating with you about your account. We wouldn't build a data platform and then ignore our own data.
Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — Placing non-essential analytics cookies. You can say no, and change your mind anytime through the cookie settings on the site.
Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) — Keeping transaction records as required by Polish tax and accounting regulations. We don't love paperwork either, but the tax office insists.
Third-Party Services
We work with a few third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:
Stripe handles all subscription payments. When you subscribe, your payment details go directly to Stripe — they never pass through our servers. Stripe also acts as an independent data controller for payment fraud prevention. stripe.com/privacy
Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors use poland.gg — things like which pages are popular, how long people stay, and where traffic comes from. It uses cookies to collect anonymized usage data, placed only with your consent. policies.google.com/privacy
PostHog gives us product analytics — page views, clicks, and feature interactions — so we can figure out what's working and what needs improvement. posthog.com/privacy
Cookies
Poland.gg uses two categories of cookies:
Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working — sessions, authentication, the basics. These don't require consent because the site genuinely can't function without them.
Analytics cookies are used by Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how you use the site. These are only placed with your consent.
You can manage your preferences anytime through the cookie banner or your browser settings. Turning off analytics cookies won't break anything — you'll just be invisible to our stats.
International Data Transfers
Some of our third-party providers (Stripe, Google, PostHog) are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the European Economic Area, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place — Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or participation in recognized frameworks like the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We don't keep data longer than we need to:
Account data — kept for the life of your account. Delete your account and your personal data is removed within 30 days, unless we're legally required to keep it.
Transaction records — kept for 5 years after the transaction, as required by Polish tax regulations.
Analytics data — anonymized data may be kept indefinitely (it's not tied to you). Identifiable usage data is kept for up to 26 months.
Communication data — kept for up to 2 years after our last interaction.
Your Rights
You're in the EU, so you have strong rights under the GDPR. Here's what you can do:
Access — ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
Rectification — ask us to fix anything that's wrong or incomplete.
Erasure — ask us to delete your data (the "right to be forgotten").
Restriction — ask us to temporarily stop processing your data.
Data portability — get your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
Withdraw consent — if we're processing something based on your consent, you can take it back anytime. That won't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these, email us at matt@poland.gg. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not happy with how we handle things, you can lodge a complaint with the Polish supervisory authority:
Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO)
ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa
uodo.gov.pl
Children's Privacy
Poland.gg isn't designed for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us, let us know and we'll remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top. No surprises — just check back occasionally if you're curious.
