Lucjusz
From the Latin Lucius, a very old Roman name built on lux, "light". In Poland it's rare and strictly a boy's name: most people have never met one, though births have crept upward through the 2020s.

What Lucjusz means
Where Lucjusz comes from and what it has meant to the people who carry it.
Lucjusz comes from the Latin Lucius, one of the oldest Roman praenomina, built on lux, lucis, the word for light. Roman writers linked the name to prima luce, first light, and said it suited a child born at daybreak. Whether that held for every Lucius is another matter. The meaning that reached Polish is plain: światło, light.
The name traveled with Rome and outlived it. Several men called Lucius appear in the New Testament and among the early bishops of the church. In Poland it settled as Lucjusz at the formal end of the register, a name you are likelier to read on an official form at the urząd than to hear called across a schoolyard.
Its closest companion is feminine. Lucja, the cross-gender form, shares the same root and the same brightness, and she has long outnumbered him in Polish records. A boy named Lucjusz stands beside her, holding the older shape of the word.
Light, then, without ornament. Lux at the root, światło in the meaning, and Lucja as its nearest kin.
