Konstantin traces back to the Greek Konstantinos, a name built on the Latin adjective constans, meaning constant or steadfast. That root fixes the meaning before any story attaches to it.

The first Konstantin most people can name is Constantine the Great, the Roman emperor who moved his capital east and gave Constantinople its name.
