Inez arrives in Polish next to Ines, the variant that shares its shape almost exactly. Both come down through Latin, and both keep the short meaning that follows the name: pure, holy. That sense of purity was attached later, gathered from the older name Agnes and its Greek root for chastity, so "pure" reads as a story the name grew into rather than a literal beginning.

In Poland the name stays rare. You might find one Inez on a class register, sitting a few desks from an Agnieszka whose name draws on the same source. The kinship is real, even when nobody in the room marks it.
