Gniewko

The name Gniewko grows from Slavic ground, from the word "gniew," which means anger or wrath. The root is old. It sits behind the fuller name Gniewomir, where it meets "mir," peace, and turns toward the meaning "calms anger." Gniewko is the smaller, warmer cut of that same word.

The calming sense reaches Gniewko through Gniewomir. On its own, the root names only the storm. Read beside its longer relative, the diminutive borrows the resolution too, so the boy who carries it holds both anger and the settling of it.
