Vladyslava

Vladyslava grows from Slavic ground. Two old roots meet in it: vlad, meaning to rule, and slava, meaning glory or fame. Together they give the short sense usually written as "to rule with glory." In Ukrainian usage it belongs to women.

Poland knows the same name in its own spelling, Władysława, and it keeps the masculine partner nearby: Władysław, worn by medieval kings such as Władysław Jagiełło. The feminine form shares that royal ancestry without borrowing the crown. Written into a class register beside a dozen other girls, Vladyslava reads as one of the more familiar Ukrainian choices.

The glory in the name was never about noise. Slava also means renown, the good report a person leaves behind. So "to rule with glory" points less at conquest and more at holding a name with standing. Short and plain: one who rules with fame. Its Polish sister remains Władysława.
