Sadok comes from the Hebrew Tzadok, built on a root that means righteous, in Polish sprawiedliwy. In the Hebrew scriptures Zadok was a priest who served under David and later his son Solomon. The sense of justice sat in the name from the start.
In Poland the name belongs above all to one man. Błogosławiony Sadok led a Dominican community at the priory of Saint James in Sandomierz. In 1260 Tatar raiders killed him together with his brothers. The Church marks their memory on 2 June, and that date carries his name-day.
