Aidan
A Celtic name meaning "fire". In Poland it stays rare: most people have never met an Aidan, though a small run of newborn boys, nearly all of them, keeps it alive year to year.

What Aidan means
Where Aidan comes from and what it has meant to the people who carry it.
Aidan grew from the Irish Aodhán, a small form of Aodh, the name of a Celtic god tied to fire and the sun. The meaning "fire, fiery" sits at the root. It was there before any later reading came along.
The name crossed into English through a monk. Aidan of Lindisfarne, an Irish churchman, founded a monastery on a tidal island off Northumbria and died there in 651. From an Irish god of fire the name passed to an English saint. That path is why Aidan reads as English today, though its bones are Celtic.
For a long stretch it stayed rare outside Ireland. Then it spread, and by the 1990s Aidan was common on English-language birth records. A Polish child called Aidan now lands on a class register beside Antoni and Jan, a Celtic fire-name among Slavic ones.
No Polish diminutive has settled on it. The meaning holds plainly: ogień, płomień.
