Xuehua

Xuehua comes from Chinese, where it is written 雪花. The first part, xue, means snow. The second, hua, means flower or blossom. Put together the word names a single snowflake, the small crystal that falls and melts on a sleeve. In Polish the sense runs to kwiat śniegu, płatek śniegu.

The name sits outside the Slavic and Latin roots that fill most Polish registers. Its origin is Chinese, and it holds the plain image of snow rather than a saint or a battle. A child called Xuehua on a Polish class register would stand a little apart from the Oliwias and Zuzannas around her.

Snow in Chinese verse stands for cold clarity and for the brief life of a thing that arrives white and thaws by noon. Xuehua gathers that reading without argument. The name has no diminutive, no cross-gender pair, no worn-down variant in Polish. It stays as it began, two syllables meaning snowflake.
