Wiktoryn

Wiktoryn traces back to the Latin Victorinus, a name built on Victor, the Roman word for conqueror. Victorinus began as a diminutive, a smaller Victor handed to a son. Its meaning is simple: victory.

One early bearer was Gaius Marius Victorinus, a Roman grammarian and rhetorician of the fourth century. He translated Greek philosophy into Latin and taught rhetoric in Rome.
