Snizhana

Snizhana comes from the Slavic root for snow, the same root that gives Ukrainian its word snih. The name means snowy, white as snow, and it belongs most firmly to Ukraine, where women have carried it through long winters. Its short meaning, snow, sits right at the surface, not buried under later layers of legend.

The form is spare. Snizhana has no diminutive trail and no cross-gender twin, so it stands as its own whole word. Ukrainian gave it shape, and Ukrainian keeps it.
