Rajnold

Rajnold is the Polish spelling of a name built from two Old Germanic words: ragin, meaning counsel or advice, and wald, meaning rule or power. Put together, they describe a person who governs, someone whose authority rests on judgment. That double sense sits behind the short gloss you will find on Polish name lists: a ruler with power and counsel.

The same roots produced a family of names across Europe. English has Reginald and Reynold, German keeps Reinhold, and Italian turned it into Rinaldo, the hot-headed knight of Renaissance epic. Rajnold is the version that settled into Polish, closer in sound to the German neighbor than to the Latin south.
