Parascovia begins in Greek, in the word paraskevḗ, meaning preparation. The same word names a day: in Greek, Paraskevḗ is Friday, the day of getting ready before the Sabbath rest. So the name holds a weekday inside it. A woman called Parascovia carries the sense of readying, of work done before the main thing arrives.
The name spread through the Orthodox world under a saint. Paraskeva was venerated across the Balkans and the Slavic lands, and her feast on 28 July fixed the name in local calendars. In Polish records the fuller Greek form is rare, and you meet it mostly in eastern parishes and old church books. See it once on a form at the urząd and it reads as a visitor from Greek, not from Latin.
