Lucjanna

Lucjanna comes from Latin. The name grows out of Lucianus, a Roman family name built on Lucius, and behind Lucius stands the noun lux, meaning light. The Polish short sense, światło, keeps that first meaning intact rather than dressing it in something borrowed.

Its closest relative is Lucjan, the masculine form. The two share one Latin spine. A girl called Lucjanna and a Lucjan in the next town are, etymologically, the same word wearing different endings.

Because the root is light, the name has often drawn associations with brightness and clarity, though those readings came from what people knew of lux, not from any single documented story.
