Gaya

Gaya comes from a Slavic root tied to the earth, to the ground itself. In Polish the short meaning is given plainly: ziemia, earth. The name keeps that sense close, without dressing it up.

The form is spare. Two syllables, open vowels, easy for a child to say before she can spell it. In a Polish class register Gaya sits short beside longer entries like Aleksandra or Magdalena.

The link to earth gives the name a footing. Soil is what people stand on and return to, what feeds the grain and holds the roots. A name meaning ziemia sets a person on solid ground from the start.
