Together they give the meaning recorded here, divinely beautiful, in Polish piękna jak bóstwo. That first root is the same one behind the Æsir, the ruling gods of Norse belief.
Polish spelling reshaped the name. The old nominative -r fell away, the vowels settled, and Astryda emerged. The earlier Astrid belonged to Scandinavian queens for centuries.
