Ramazi is the Georgian form of Ramazan, and Ramazan comes from the Arabic Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, the month of the fast. The Arabic root ramaḍ points to scorching heat, ground baked hard before the rains. The name began as the word for a month.
