A real bearer anchors it. Eadburh of Winchester, daughter of King Edward the Elder, was born around 921 and died in 960. She became a nun at Nunnaminster in Winchester and was later venerated as a saint, with a feast on 15 June. Her name held both parts of the old meaning, the wealth of a royal house and the walls of the abbey she chose.
